Operations Assistant

Ministry of Stories helps young people in east London discover their confidence, imagination and potential through the power of their writing.

The Operations Assistant is part of the Operations Team at childrens’ creative writing charity, Ministry of Stories.

This role will support the smooth, efficient and effective running of the organisation and will provide support across volunteering and general administration, retail, marketing, communications and fundraising.

You must be aged 16-24 years old, and unemployed and claiming Universal Credit.

We ask our applicants to be organised, self-motivated and have good communication skills. No previous experience is necessary for this role, but we have identified some skills, experience and attitudes which could be helpful:

  • Clear communication skills and a warm and professional approach to interacting with a wide variety of people
  • Strong organisational and administration skills
  • Experience in using social media channels and/or website content management systems 

    Experience in writing and editing engaging and creative content for social media, web and/or printed copy

  • Abilities and attitude

    Strong work ethic including the confidence to ask for help

Main Purpose: To provide administrative, retail and marketing support to help the smooth running of the organisation


Administration

  • To provide volunteer and general administrative support across the organisation, including our magical shop, Hoxton Street Monster Supplies
  • To support volunteer recruitment and administration, including referencing and DBS
  • On occasion, to support events including project launches or volunteer social events


Retail

  • To support online fulfilment and/or shopkeeping in Hoxton Street Monster Supplies
  • To develop and conduct customer research
  • To provide research support for new suppliers and products, as required


Marketing and Communications

  • To prepare marketing, communications and fundraising material for print, social media and the Ministry of Stories website
  • To create a simple, useable image library from the organisation’s photographic archive, including tagging and text descriptions

This programme is being delivered as part of the government’s Kickstart Scheme.

To be eligible to apply you must be aged 18 – 24 and claiming universal credit.
