LookUp – Digital Content Production was a two-week immersive training course for 12 young creatives aged 16-25 who wanted to get more hands-on experience capturing, producing and creating content
Participants responded to a live brief set by DJ Gilles Peterson & his curated pop-up project, Look Up - a week-long shop & series of talks & gigs exploring the positive connection between mental health and the arts.
12 aspiring creatives with a passion for filmmaking, podcasting and photography took part in the course and form a dedicated media team who covered goings-on at the week-long pop-up shop, which included interviews, gigs and talks.
The group of 12 were split into smaller production teams of four covering photography, filmmaking and podcasting. Each team worked with a professional producer from Gilles’s award-winning radio station, Worldwide FM, to learn the art of great storytelling.
Throughout the course, participants gained more experience in responding to media briefs, honing their production skills and capturing great quality content. Their Worldwide FM mentors then oversaw each team’s project, supporting them from concept, through production, through to content delivery to be shared via Worldwide FM and other Look Up partners including the charity Safaplace.
Applicants had to demonstrate a passion for and a working knowledge of one of the three production areas – podcasting, filmmaking, photography - be aged 16-25, a resident of Hackney or Waltham Forest and at school or unemployed.
The programme ran from Monday 24 September to Friday 05 October 2018.
